Brewing Guide

Water Temperature

The temperature of the water during brewing affects flavor and extraction. Be sure to occasionally check for correct temperature. Ideal water temperature for brewing: 195º – 205ºF (92º – 96ºC)
  • Ensure coffee brewer operates at correct temperature.
  • Ideal brewing temperature 200 degrees plus or minus 5 degrees.
  • Too low a temperature causes under-extraction. Flavor compounds do not dissolve, resulting in weak coffee.
  • Too high a temperature causes flavor change, as elevated temperature decomposes the organic material.
  • Temperature should be checked with a thermometer with the sprayhead off.
